New 2018 iPhone XS, iPhone XC, iPhone X Plus, iPhone 9, iPhone XS Max – All of the rumours on price, specs, release date
We are now just an inch closer to Apple’s main event which is going to be held on September 12 at Apple’s HQ. That day we will find out about the correctness of all the rumours and leaks. Speaking about leaks, the latest comes from Ben Geskin, who tweeted that photos of ‘dummy handsets’ revealed last week are the actual photos of the new upcoming 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. Ben Geskin dubbed it as ‘iPhone Xc’. It is rumoured that it will come in multiple colours. Could this news be true? We have to wait just a tad bit more to find out.
9to5Mac reports that Apple will launch 6.5-inch iPhone and a 5.8-inch iPhone. The names could be iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS, respectively.
BGR and 9to5Mac both shared that Apple won’t call the larger model ‘PLUS’. Instead, it will name the new iPhone as iPhone XS Max. Leaks from 9to5Mac and Apple’s main event invitations hit the news same day, the September 12th.
So far all the leaks and rumours suggest that Apple will release three new iPhones this season. One iPhone will be an updated version of 5.8-inch iPhone X with OLED screen. The second version will have a larger 6.5-inch OLED screen and the third version will be a 6.1-inch iPhone.
iPhone XS might come in three different models
All the rumours pointing out that Apple will release a larger version of iPhone XS – the iPhone XS Plus, along with a cheaper model. It is to be noted that price is not an obstacle for Apple’s flagship phones so far. Although iPhone X is the priciest iPhone ever in Apple’s history but at the same time, it was the best-selling phone.
Apple will surely refine the designs and will add more features in the new iPhone. We can expect new build materials, a faster processor, new colours and better battery life.
Budget-Friendly iPhone might not ship until October: Rumours
As per the reports, Apple will launch three new iPhone this season. One will have an LCD screen and the other two will have OLED screens. Katy Huberty, an analyst from Morgan Stanley reported that LCD iPhone might get delayed until October. While the other two iPhones are expected to get released this September.
“We currently see no delay in the ramp of Apple’s upcoming flagship 5.8-inch or 6.5-inch OLED iPhones. However, the suspected issues with LED backlight leakage has caused a one-month delay in mass production of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, although this is down from a six-week delay baked into the original production forecast, according to suppliers.”
The Main Event Date: September 12th
Apple sent out the main event invitations on Thursday. The event will take place on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California.
It is expected that Apple will announce the new iPhone along with a new Apple Watch.
What will be the name of the new iPhone?
According to 9to5Mac, the next iPhone might be called as the iPhone XS. Some analysts think the company will use its ‘S’ series nomenclature, and we could see iPhone XS and XS Plus. We didn’t see iPhone 9 so far because Apple brought out iPhone X alongside the iPhone 8 series.
A Bigger iPhone: Rumour
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Apple has developed two new iPhones one of them is a 6.5-inch OLED model. This ‘Plus’ version model would be the biggest iPhone ever. Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo speculated that Apple would release three iPhone models in 2018. Ming-Chi Kuo is a former Apple analyst.
A Cheaper iPhone: Rumour
Back in April, Kuo predicted that Apple may launch a single SIM iPhone that costs between £390 to £460 and a dual-SIM model, priced between £460 to £530. In order to make a 6.1-inch iPhone, the price is affordable. It is also possible that Apple could remove some of the pricier components like the OLED display, Face ID and 3D Touch.
A Pricier iPhone: Rumour
Investment analysts from UBS predicted that Apple’s 2018 iPhone will cost around £770. This new iPhone will be pricier than the current iPhone X. But as the new model has a larger screen then this price tag makes sense.
Face ID goes Horizontal: Rumour
Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted that Apple will bring its TrueDepth camera feature to the upcoming iPhones along with facial recognition technology.
Kou said that Apple could remove fingerprint sensor from these new iPhones. We might also see Face ID in the next batch of iPads. A report from multiple sources (MacRumors, Bloomberg, and Mac Okatara) suggested that through this next version of Face ID, you will be able to unlock your phones while in landscape position.
Android P vs. iPhone XS
Meanwhile, on the other hand, the Android world respond to the iPhone X by showing off its new gesture-based interface in its new Android P operating system.
Other mobile phone companies like Asus, OnePlus, LG, and Huawei are working on top-notch design phones to compete with Apple. Huawei has already made a notch concept phone which gives you the option to toggle it off and on. On the other hand, Samsung has so far in no mood to make notch design phones but Google seems to have a notch to its Pixel 3 phone.
Apple Pencil or iPen: Rumour
This year in April, an investment form Rosenblatt Securities reported that the Apple’s new upcoming OLED iPhone will support an ‘iPen’ device.
Of course, the very famous rumour, Apple will release an iPhone that supports the Apple Pencil, is speculating since the debut of the stylus in 2015. And the addition of Apple Pencil in 2018 iPad has given this rumour a new life. Wait and watch.
